Job Interview Skills
Making the right impression in a job interview can get you the offer
and the salary you desire. But under the pressure of an interview,
even the most confident professional may not present him or herself
in the best light, or may unknowingly send the wrong messages. At First
Impressions we help you see how the interviewer sees you, so you can
fine tune your self-presentation to get the results you want.
Here's how it works:
-
You go on a simulated job interview with a First Impressions
consultant who plays the role of your interviewer. Your consultant
will ask you questions that represent the variety of ways that employers
interview candidates. You will be asked questions from an interview
approach that is unstructured, an approach that focuses on your
employment and educational history, and an approach that gets at
ways you have handled specific challenges in the workplace.
-
You have a follow-up discussion with your consultant addressing
the impression you make, the positive messages you send, as well
as things you could do better. Your consultant will outline
the specific things you said or did that contributed to your first
impression.
-
The consultant coaches you on other ways of presenting yourself,
and you get a chance to practice challenging questions until
you are confortable and confident with your responses and your self
presentation.
-
You practice negotiating the salary you want and expect.
