Here’s a review of the First Impressions process
The Simulated Date:
You will meet your First Impressions consultant at the Space Untitled
Espresso Bar for a simulated date over a light meal and/or coffee. Your
consultant will be playing the role of the person described here.
You will recognize your consultant as the single person with the New
York Times. Remember, approach this interaction as you would any blind
date. We encourage you to act as naturally as you would on a real date.
Relax, be yourself, and have fun!
At the end of the date, close the meeting as you would any other, with
or without follow-up plans. After you close the date, your consultant
will break out of the simulation and give you a short self-reflections
questionnaire which you may fill out at your table while your consultant
prepares your evaluation. You will pick up the tab for the coffee or snack
(generally less than $15 for two).
The Feedback Session:
Your consultant will rejoin you for a feedback session, during which
he or she will share his/her impression of the date and help you understand
your charms and challenges, with a focus on interpersonal style and presentation.
The feedback session is supportive and completely confidential. You are
encouraged to share your ideas in an open discussion. The consultant will
provide you with the list of behaviors used to guide the discussion, which
you may take home with you.
Where to meet:
You will meet your consultant at a place and time that is convenient
to both of you. This will be arranged when the session is set up.
